25th Anniversary Party!

diPietro Todd  Salons + Acdemy 1988- 2013. It was an emotional evening for Andrew and I while we opened our hearts and shared our sentiments about being in business for 25 years. We Toasted with champagne, told old stories and had a good laugh about the fact that we’ve been in business longer that most of our assistants have been alive. Andrew said that we’re really just 25 yrs. young and just getting started with still so much to do.

What I know is this—-We’re still living by our mission statement……diPietro Todd—dPT….Discipline, Passion + Truth.

Thank you everyone at dPT and thank you dear clients for your continued loyalty.  You’ve all been a part of a dream come true and we couldn’t have done it without you.

diPietro Todd Announces a New Creative Director Moises Villa

les-enfants-terribles-soiree-april-12-2012_206

A naturally gifted stylist right from the start, Moi Villa excelled in diPietro Todd’s “Development” training program and it was clear that he would go far at dPT. Ten years later he has been offered the position as “Creative Director” and we are very excited to see how his innate sense of creativity and style will inspire the team at dPT. I always told Moises from the very beginning that he would make diPietro Todd famous one day. Now is his opportunity.

Sincerely,

Fairy Tales and Nursery Rhymes Holiday Pary

664967_10151302446550699_1533408399_o

When everyone was thinking— Mayan Apolcolypse, Andrew and Michael O’Rourke went in the other direction and decided that Nursery Rhymes and Fairy tales was the theme for this years Xmas Party. The Supper Club was the best venue ever with endless entertainment and merriment and it was clear that everyone had a fabulous time. Kristin Bowers (sp) was unanimously selected for the “Best Costume” prize as the spitting image of the evil witch from Sleeping Beauty. When I spun around and saw Moi Villa (Creative Director), I think the entire city heard me scream. He was so scary, he was hardly recognizable. This was a party I wish I could go to all over again. Time flies when you having fun.

glam rock spectacle

The staff at diPietro Todd all agree that this year’s annual Christmas Party with a “Glamrock” theme at SF’s newest hotspot JONES was one of Andrew and Sam’s best parties to date!! It seems as though everyone says that each and every year… but I will admit that this year was AMAZING!! Crazy enough, Kate Moss was on the cover of December’s French Vogue as a David Bowie look alike so we all knew we were riding the wave of what’s happening in fashion and modern culture, which we really pride ourselves on. The evening opened with a girl band named “Featherwitch”. They were beyond sexy and fun. After that, DJ Sam Isaac took over from there. The highlight of the evening was a performance piece by Michael O’Rourke (colorist in Palo Alto) as Freddie Mercury from the infamous 70′s band Queen. Michael was seriously channeling Freddie Mercury and the crowd was going wild to my favorite song “We are the Champions”.Thank you to the diPietro Todd staff. You are the champions!

dPT @ NY Fashion Week

Fashion Week was a whirlwind to say the least. Our Creative Director Akemi Tamaribuchi and Assisitant Creative Director Moises Villa were invited to work backstage at numerous shows among other talented hair stylists. It was our job (myself and my partner-in-crime Brittany McCall, Media Director) to capture as much of the excitement as possible. The list of shows on Akemi and Moises’ itinerary were nothing short of fabulous: Jason Wu, Thakoon, Rodarte, Theyskens Theory, and Phillip Lim 3.1. Needless to say, Brittany and I were ready, willing and very much able! The duo had the privilege of working backstage with the infamous French hairstylist Odile. She was a sight to see- with her cigarette in hand, she appeared passionate about her vision making sure every piece of hair was in its place. Akemi and Moises worked right alongside her and as Brittany approached them with her camera. Odile proudly said “Be sure to capture our superstars!” speaking fondly of Akemi and Moises. It was such an honor for Brittany and I to watch Akemi and Moises work their magic backstage- they were so humbled, poised, confident and worked seamlessly together. It was evident that this was exactly where they belonged… rubbing elbows with Odile and making their mark at New York Fashion week. As for Brittany and I, every single day was a little adventure. Getting backstage was not as easy feat, in fact it was a bit stressful, but once we made it through those doors it was all worth it! We were able to capture some amazing footage, celebrity sight-see (Dakota Fanning, Taylor Swift, Beyonce, Anna Wintour, Bruce Willis, Alexa Chung just to name a few!) and enjoy a few fashion shows. On the eve of my last day in New York with the team, I came back to my hotel room only to find a dozen roses, chocolates, and a card from my boyfriend. This was the cherry on top of my cake!  After an exhausting, memorable, fun, and fashion-filled week…. Brittany and I can honestly say we are two very lucky ladies and so happy to be a part of the Creative Office at diPietro Todd.

Cheers,

prohibition party

“LIPS THAT TOUCH LIQUOR WILL NEVER TOUCH MINE”

Prohibition was the theme for this years Xmas party at diPietro Todd. I’m amazed once again how Andrew comes up with these fabulous party ideas that run just on the edge of what’s happening in modern culture. With Sam Hayes as his right hand-man, they both plot and plan on every last detail to ensure that they create authenticity and a rip roaring good time. Everyone looked so beautiful and gay in their 20′s inspired clothing while dancing the Charleston. Later in the evening, burlesque dancers added some grit to the sexy speak easy bar while old black and white films played in the background. Truthfully, the photos say it all.

Forever Young

Our Christmas party for our dPT staff was amazing thanks to Andrew Todd and Sam Hayes. Planning for this party starts in August and not a detail is spared. This year’s vampire theme, “Forever Young” posed the question: who would you be if you could live forever? Andrew and Sam always choose a unique theme that is inspired by what is happening in pop culture. This year’s party was at Vessel nightclub. The venue was transformed into a dark, candlelit atmosphere perfect for vampires to gather in, complete with faux smoke, manzanita branches, black lights, plasma orbs, and a full moon. Everyone, dressed to the nines, out did themselves coming up with the most unique and creative costumes. It was sort of like a masquerade as it was hard to recognize my own employees. DJ Icon put everyone in the dancing mood and performers from Vau Di Vire Society provided some inspiring entertainment. The best costume awards went out to Chad Robinson and Moises Villa. Check out our party photos and keep in touch with us on facebook.

Into The Groove

into the groove

I get really excited for September to roll around because Fall more than any other season is a great time for fashion. The whole industry seems to really take off after a lazy summer of breezy clothes and a laid back attitude. At diPietro Todd Salon we start looking at all the glossy magazines early in the season to stay on top of what’s happening for our own interests and for the interests of clients by keeping them in touch with the current trends. With that being said, this is the first decade trend that I personally have to repeat having lived through the 80′s as a young adult. Quite honestly I’m having a hard time taking it on. Meanwhile the young hipsters at the salon are thrilled with the prospect of executing stronger looks, making their job here a lot more fun (I’m seeing some interesting pompadours already). Whether it be cutting edge or timelessly classic, our main goal here at diPietro Todd is making sure you have a cut or color that is perfect for you.
